What is Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller History Month?
Since 2008, the month of June has been designated as Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller History Month in the United Kingdom. The month aims to tackle prejudice, challenges myths, and amplify the voices of Gypsies, Roma, and Travellers in society through celebration, education, and awareness raising.
Each year is themed and the 2023 focus is TBC.
How is Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month Celebrated?
Every year the charity Friends, Families and Travellers, set a theme and provide participation packs for different sectors and communities. These packs provide more information on the chosen theme, the history of the community, case studies and ideas for showing support via social media.
