New Year’s Eve
Thursday
31
December
New Year’s Eve is celebrated in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland on the 31st of December every year. Celebrations including parties and fireworks displays, often run into the early hours of the following morning – New Year’s Day. Common celebrations on New Year’s Day include family dinners, gatherings and making resolutions for the year ahead.
New Year’s Eve is not a Bank Holiday in England, Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland. Many businesses may already be closed during the Christmas and New Year period but if they are not, people may request annual leave.
